Impedance Sensors

Signature Control Systems has developed impedance sensors that can be quickly and easily introduced into many manufacturing processes. The sensors can be connected to any of our intelligent monitoring and control systems, and have been designed to withstand the most demanding processing conditions.

For some applications, the product shape or size precludes placing the sensor on the actual part. For these situations, a witness or sample cavity is machined near the product cavity(s) that still captures the molding conditions and raw material variations that affect the cure time.

The sensors are also useful in applications in which the product has a metal insert. In these cases, the sensor is capable of measuring the material cure between the sensor and the insert.

3/4" In-Mold Sensors

Signature Control Systems' 3/4" in-mold sensors (IMS) are specifically designed for molding and curing operations. Typical applications include injection, compression, and transfer molded rubber, and compression molding of sheet and bulk molding compounds and other reinforced composites. The IMS sensors are rated for high temperature (450°F / 232°C) and high-pressure (40,000 psi) operation. The sensors are flush-mounted in the mold and use the opposite side of the mold to complete the sensor circuit.

The sensor's small size of 0.75 inches in diameter and 0.875 inches deep easily allows for unobtrusive mounting in any mold.

1/4" In-Mold Sensors

Signature Control Systems' 1/4" in-mold sensors (IMS) are specifically designed for molding and curing operations. Typical applications include injection, compression, and transfer molded rubber, and compression molding of sheet and bulk molding compounds and other reinforced composites. The IMS sensors are rated for high temperature (500°F / 260°C) and high-pressure (18,000 psi) operation. The sensors are flush-mounted in the mold.

The sensor's small size of 0.25 inches in diameter and customizable depth of 1.5" to 36" easily allows for unobtrusive mounting in any mold.
