| SmartTrac® MMS |
SmartTrac MMS enables the lumber processing industry to reduce degrade and waste while increasing capacity and profitability in kiln drying processes.
SmartTrac MMS monitors the moisture within the kiln through multiple sensor plates.
Through the use of sophisticated proprietary algorithms developed specifically for the lumbar processing industry,
SmartTrac MMS identifies the precise drying point that results in the least amount of degrade, and shuts down the kiln.
By optimizing the kiln drying cycle, SmartTrac MMS delivers the following benefits:
- Reduced degrade
- Reduced energy costs
- Reduced CO2 emissions
- Increased kiln efficiency
- Improved product quality
Highly Reliable Design
For the highest reliability and field maintainability,
SmartTrac MMS utilizes standard, widely available
components throughout, including the housing and
computer components, and Windows XP operating system.
In the kiln, standard clips, plates and Teflon®-coated
stainless steel cables simply connect to a common
junction box through conduit runs without the use
of hanging systems or other mechanical apparatus.
The use of threaded or sleeved conduit runs is only
for mechanical protection of the sensor cables.
Rapid Return on Investment
Both softwood and hardwood processing facilities
achieve kiln productivity improvements from 7% to
15%, while reducing degrade 1% to 1.5%. These improvements
quickly result in the SmartTrac MMS system paying
for itself in a matter of 3 to 11 months.
